Update: Due to a lack of volunteers, this fundraiser has been cancelled.

We’re hoping to have a snowbank rink in Ellerslie Crossing Park this winter, but we need the community’s help to make it happen! We need about $6,000 to build and maintain the rink for the winter, so we’re having a bottle drive on Saturday, October 18, starting at 10:00 a.m. to help raise funds. More details will come soon, but right now we’re looking for volunteers to help out. We need people to pick up the bottles (a driver with a truck and a helper or two per vehicle) and people to sort/count at the bottle depot. Please contact Jenn Parsonage if you’re able to help out.

If you want to see a rink in our community this winter, PLEASE volunteer and spread the word! If we don’t get support from the community for this (both in volunteer hours and in donations), we won’t be able to provide this awesome benefit. Thanks for your support!

Ellerlsie Community League is hosting a Community Garage Sale/Family Fun Day on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the Ellerslie Curling Club from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Whether you want to browse the items for sale, sell items yourself, or enjoy the family-fun activities, you’re bound to enjoy this event! While the garage sale is happening, there will be a barbecue, a bouncy castle, face painting, horseshoes, and more. Also, balloon artist Phileas Flash will be on hand to share his amazing talent!

If you’d like to rent a table, please read the Rental Information document, then fill out the Registration Form and mail it or drop it off along with your payment to Alicia Staub (address in registration form; please contact Alicia at social@ellersliecommunityleague.com or 780-965-3521 to get more information or make arrangements to drop payment off). The table rental fee for Ellerslie Community League members is $25, non-members $35, and home-based businesses $40.

Bottle Drive for Charlesworth Park

There will also be a bottle drive for Charlesworth Park taking place at the Community Garage Sale. Please bring your empty bottles and cans to the event if you’d like to donate them to help upgrade the playground at Charlesworth Park. Construction on the playground is scheduled to begin this spring, and we would love to make it the best it can be!

GarageSale

It’s official!! After a couple years of hard work we have raised enough money to build the park next year! A huge thank you to Amarjeet Sohi for speaking to the developers of our neighbourhood on our behalf. When he told them we only had $37,500 left to raise, Cameron Developments donated an additional $7,500 (from their previous $10,000 donation) and MLC donated $30,000!!!

Please watch your mailboxes for our pamphlet that will give you an opportunity to donate to the park project. We are hoping to raise additional funds so we can install poured-in-place rubber in the park instead of the engineered wood fibre we are currently budgeted for. We appreciate your continued support and look forward too seeing you at the park! Remember, even if you donated last year you can donate again this year and get a new tax receipt for the next tax season. We will also total all of your donations so that your name can be displayed on the next level on the rock plaque.

I would like to take the time to recognize some of the businesses that have donated to our project:

  • MLC Group: $30,000
  • United Communities: $25,000
  • Cameron Developments: $17,500
  • Bedrock Homes/Carrington Communities: $10,000
  • Landmark Homes: $2,000
  • Jatec Electric: $2,000
  • Homes by Avi: $1,000
  • Mani Bagga: $500

If have questions, wish to volunteer or would like to be added to our email list for updates please email us or check us out on Facebook.
